displaying custom av's in news

So far I have only been able to get the avatars to be shown with the news when they are the default avatars that come with the forums.

I've tried many different things to get it to use a custom uploaded avatar, but it seems unable to locate it for some situation.

Is there any work-arounds to get this to work with any type of avatar and not just pre-uploaded avatars?

The script has modules that interact with forum's database. Each forum's database is different.

I will need you to provide what type of forum you are using and what version. Otherwise there is no way that I will be able to even begin to find the problem. It is likely that the forum software for that particular script was updated and the functionality is now broken (but if you provide me with the forum type and forum version I can fix it).
