Yesterday I installed forum-news, but it does not works, only it shows “Error connecting to specified database name”.
What is “forum's database”?
I upload forum-news inside public_html.
Everything is installed, but I do not understand this “DB username”, “DB Password”, “DB Name”, “DB Prefix”
Can you show me how put it with examples like this:
http://www.mysite.com/ forum-news /

Of course it doesn't work without that information. That is like buying a new car and not putting any fuel in it ;)

Your database information depends on what the configuration of your forum is. You can find this information by opening up the configuration file of your forum. This file usually contains the words "config" somewhere in its filename and can be found somewhere within your forum's folder.

This is the information of MySQL (I copy this from my host server)

Database: rene_news
Host: localhost
Username: rene_news
Password: 356xxx

I put this information in the panel of Forum Settings


DB username = rene_news
DB Password = 356xxx
DB Name = rene_news
DB Prefix = ? <-----I don't know wat is that)

Forum URL = http://www.mysite.com/forum-news / <----I don't know if it is right
but still it does't work
Can you help me please
I never use it before I have cutenews

You are making this quite difficult by not posting your URL (or at least sending it to me via PM).

1. Your database prefix depends on what type of forum software you are using.

2. That is definitely NOT your forum URL. Your forum URL is the URL to your forum. For example, http://www.yoursite.com/forum/ (or whereever your forum is located).

I think you might be a bit confused. This script is not designed to be a news script on its own. It is made to work with forum software, transforming forum posts into news that can be displayed on your webpage.

This program doesn't handle the news itself. It takes forum posts from your forum and formats them into news.
