Thread: Did you release the version 3.0?

  1. Did you release the version 3.0?

    Hi:
I found the EP-DEV Whois 3.X forum here.
Did you release the 3.0 version?
    Where could I find it?
    Thanks!

Re: Did you release the version 3.0?

I did not release v3.0 yet. I am still working on it (among other projects).

Here is the current feature list (these features already exist in v3.0 code):
    - All new code
    - Same features as old code
    - Database backend
    - New and improved Administration Panel
    - Whois server abstractions (it is easier to create lookups for non-standard servers)
    - Domain pricing matrix: ability to set prices per year, no pricing / no pricing for certain years (co.uk, etc)
    - New TLD / Whois server management (it is much, much easier to manage).
    - Improved Image Verification
    - Automated synonym lookup (ex: you search for "my-boats.com" and the script returns "my-ships.com, iloveships.com, my-boating.com, etc...)
    - New (and much improved) default display for domain lookups... offering more professional look out-of-box.
    - basic API for domain lookup, etc
    - Support for multiple languages
    - Smarty Template system / template management from control panel

Here is what I am still working on (these features are under development / partially coded):
    - Plugin set for popular billing / web hosting software
    - Installation / upgrade mechanism
    - User management: admin/staff and (optional) client

Here is what I may develop:
    - Common Registrar support (eNom, etc) / manual or email registration support
    - Common Billing support (PayPal, Authorize.net, etc)

As you can see, there is a wealth of features already coded, but there are also a lot of features still under development and being considered. When I started coding v3 I prioritized features and that is why you see mostly auxiliary features waiting to be implemented or completed.
