    Modifying whois search

    Hi.
    Iam new to scripting and could do with some help.
    Is there any way to modify this script so you don't have to specify a tld, it will automatically search all tld's a list those available?
    I have noticed that sometimes when a tld is taken it will suggest an alternative that is available but not always (even when the same domain name with another tld is available), so it is nearly doing what i need but not quite, is there any reason for this?
    I look forward to any replies, I hope this modification is possible as otherwise I am very happy with it and keen to use it (I have tried several others but believe this to be the best).

    I am currently working on a complete rewrite of the script that will make this possible.

    Until the new version is released, you will have to rely on the TLD search feature that you were speaking of. Just add all the domains that you want to search to the feature. By default it comes as .com, .net, .org but you can make it contain all the TLDs, such as .com, .net, .org, .edu, .co.uk, .biz., .info , etc.

    Thanks for the quick reply. I now have the script up and running as suggested and it works really well, definately the best free solution for domain resellers I have tried (and I've tried quite a few!) both in terms of performance an flexibility.
    I have another server you may wish to add for the .tv domain:
    ".tv -> whois.nic.tv - No match."
    I have tested this and it works fine, despite some reports that it needs a password!
    Keep up the good work!

    Last time I checked, years ago heh, .tv didn't offer any whois database. Has that changed then? Right now the script throws out any requests for .tv and reports an error.

    Yes it has changed. If you use the server in my last post it queries it fine (I have set it up on mine and its working perfectly).
    I see there is part of your script that tells it how to deal with .tv based on the fact there is no whois server, you could remove this now i guess. I wasn't sure exactly which part to remove and which to leave in so I've left it alone on mine and it still works fine.
    The only limitations I have noticed is that I can only get 20 .tv whois reports per day with this server, but that isn't a major problem, you can still check if the domain name is available or not.
